Bessie

Jewbull's American Pie

Bessie is a mature bulldog bitch, who will soon reach veteran age. She is a a bit shy and very kind. When she forgets her shyness for a moment she can be very playful, even wild. When she becames boisterous, she wawes her rear end, wags wildly with her front legs and rolls her eyes. If prizes were given to dogs for clowning around, she would propably be the first clown champion bulldog in Finland.

When Bessie was young, she used to cahse rabbits and birds in the woods nearby. With age her "hunting instincts" have calmed down. She still moves like a young girl and is in a very fit condition. We hope that she has passed the good genes also to her offspring.

Bessie loves all kinds of treats. She represents just the type of bulldog who, while looking very affectionate parks herself besides the kitchen table and stares at You hoping to get a treat. But at home we have a very strict policy. There are no treats to be obtained by that way unless we happen to have quests who secrectly manage to feed Bessie under the table. If You are a culinarist, what can you do?

In addition to sports Bessie also has cultural hobbies. She likes to watch tv. She has her own place at the corner of the sofa where she takes her nap and watches the telly. She likes drama series but she can't tolerate nature programs. No wolves or lions are allowed to enter Bessie's home to menace her! Sometimes she just has to bark very strictly to make them understand that they have to go away and not disturb her any more. Bessie has also noticed that she likes opera very much. She was caught staring intensively at the tv while the Finnish baritone Tommi Hakala, who won the song contest in Cardiff was performing. Bessie just loved to hear him sing!

Although Bessie from time to time tends to forget it, she also the proud mother of the lovely bulldog lady Patsy (Wheelback's African Queen) and a grandmother of six lively young bulldogs.

Bessie has been named after the tough blues singer Bessie Smith.
